Miscellaneous

The evolution of the World Wide Web has opened up a brand new medium for artists to work with, and display their work. The web continues to grow and evolve. Easier access, much more data availability, faster downloads, greater interactivity and animated movements have impacted the computer graphics industry. As the web allows ease of international exchange, our communication and design media become a shared, worldwide experience. How does the web differ from print graphics? A painting, a photograph, or an illustration presents a singular unit of information in a linear format. Information o the web is nonlinear and highly interactive (speaking about web-design)

Time, motion, and sound are important components of web design. All design communicates a message, but it may not have the intended and desired effect if the designer is not careful and well prepared. Download time is also an important issue affecting outcomes in web design.

No matter what type of pages you are designing, whether it is a flyer, poster, newsletter, resume, or so on, it is important to remember the purpose of your page and your audience. The most visually exciting page can fail to communicate a message if too much emphasis is on producing a “cool” page rather than a page that speaks to your audience. It’s easy to get caught up in arranging the visual elements on the page: moving around type, graphics, and experimenting with layout and alignment. Step back once in a while, however and ask yourself, “Does the design work? Does it say what I want and need it to say?” and most importantly, “Will my audience be attracted to the page and understand the message?”
