Theory: Studied reflex actions involved in involuntary reactions to stress and pain. Extended definitions of four different temperament types: phlegmatic, choleric, sanguine, and melancholic. Observed and began a study on transmariginal inhibition(TMI), or the bodys natural response of shutting down when exposed to overwhelming stress or pain. His studies showed how the different temperament types responded to the same stimuli in the same way, just moved through the responses at different times.

Famous Everyday Saying Connected to him: "Pavlov's Dog" for his study and experiments on dogs and their digestive systems.
